Trailside Farm was my first foray into organic vegetable farming. It was located in West Central Missouri, in the small town of Calhoun (pop. 400 or so). Together with my then-wife, we purchased a property with 15 acres of pasture, an old house, a barn, a garage and a shop and started our adventure into farming in 2000. We became a certified organic operation a couple years later after having added irrigation systems, a greenhouse and several high tunnels for season extension. After getting our feet wet selling produce in nearby Clinton and Warrensburg, we settled on the Brookside Farmers Market in Kansas City where local growers and producers are selling high quality organic fare.
